About Me
Sascha Bartlett

RN, IBCLC

My daughter Ava was born in 2007. It was always my plan to breastfeed her. However, I had rough post delivery and breastfeeding was excruciating. I cringed every time my mom or husband brought her to me for feedings. I knew this was not the way breastfeeding should be. I wanted to love it, but I did not. I ended up getting mastitis. This led me to start pumping because the pain was too intense. I found it difficult to find help and after 6 weeks of searching, I finally found a Lactation Consultant that helped me with positioning and taught me many skills. I started back breastfeeding and with the tips she taught me,  it was not painful anymore. I was able to successfully nurse her for 10 months!

I knew this was something I was extremely passionate about. Feeling this way, I wanted this to be my career.  I wanted to help and show other moms you CAN enjoy breastfeeding and It doesn’t  have to be “ALL OR NOTHING.”

At the time I was working as a Registered Nurse in a medical Surgical unit. I was extremely interested in Lactation, so I started volunteering at the hospital on the MOTHER/BABY unit.

In just over 6 months I transitioned into a Lactation Consultant position, and earned my IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) in 2011.

In 2013 my son was born and with the knowledge I had gained I was able to breastfeed him for 2 years. Had my journey been easy, I would have thought that breastfeeding was simple and came naturally to everyone. That is just simply not the case. Breastfeeding IS natural but it is LEARNED. I can help!
