How to Prepare for Your Lactation Consultation with Sascha, Your Breastfeeding Specialist.
Please DO NOT worry about tidying up. That is the last thing you need to be worried about.
Below are a few things to help the consultation go smoothly.
● A before and after breastfeeding weight check will be included to evaluate adequate transfer of breastmilk.
● Please try and feed your baby 2-2.5 hours prior to the consultation. This goes for pumping too. (Do not pump 2.5 hours prior to consulting)
● The initial consult takes on average 1.5 hours. Additional consults are usually shorter.
● Please keep a record of the last 24 hours of feedings, pumpings, or formula use. This is a big piece of the puzzle.
● I will be bringing a scale so please designate a small area that we can use. Coffee table or counter.
● At the initial consult, I will review your health and feeding history and explore the current issues you are experiencing.
An assessment will be made with a written care plan with suggestions for improving whatever feeding issues you may be having.
